Case Study Journals in Phillips Library Databases

These are journals that publish many case studies. The library subscribes to the journals through annual fees. You and your students can access these journals, and the case studies they contain, through the library's databases.

Harvard Business Review Case Studies & Articles

Begining in 2013, the Harvard Business School has instituted a fairly restrictive policy limiting the ways by which faculty and students can use Case Studies.

Phillips Library subscribes to Business Source Complete from EBSCO which includes read-only access to the 500 most popular HBR articles. Printing, saving, persistent linking, or using any other means to incorporate the content into course resources are not allowed.

Using Case Studies or Articles in Your Course:

  1. Instructors can register (free) at Harvard Business Publishing and build course packs: HBP Educator's Web Site Help page
  2. Students purchase the article/case study from HBSP for a one-time use: HBSP Online Bookstore for Students

Finding Case Studies and Articles in Library Databases (Business Source Complete):

  1. From the Phillips Library Search page select "Business Source Complete"
  2. Find "Publications" in the top blue toolbar
  3. Search for "Harvard Business Review" and click on title
  4. From the publication information page click "Search Within Publication"
  5. Add search terms (such as "case study" to generate list of all case studies in this publication)

"Public Relations" Specific Case Studies

To find individual case studies about public relations:

  1. Enter "case studies" in the EBSCO search box. Click Search.
  2. At the EBSCO results list page select "subject" next to the keyword "case studies"
  3. Add "public relations" in the next box. Click Search
  4. This result list will be individual case studies that contain the word "public relations"
