Some databases may not have the direct link to export a citation into your favorite citation tool. RIS export refer to the process of exporting citation information is RIS format, a standardize plain text file format used to exchange bibliographic data between citation management tools like EndNote, Zotero, Mendeley, RefWorks, and databases like PubMed, EBSCO, JSTOR, and Google Scholar.  

To export a RIS file in Spartan Search, click on Export RIS, then choose an encoding option, and then click on download to obtain the text file. The recommended encoding is UTF-8. It's the most widely used encoding today, supports every character from every language including special characters, and works well with various citation tools.

Once the file has been downloaded to your device, open your citation manager and import the file.
