To resolve blocks on your I-Share account, contact the lending I-Share library that you borrowed the item from.

How do I pickup and return Tipasa books?

Books borrowed through interlibrary loan must be picked up at and returned to Phillips Library. For AU online students, you may make arrangements to have someone pick-up your books on your behalf. Please fill out the Interlibrary Loan Proxy Form before sending your proxy to pick-up your materials. Your proxy must show a valid I.D. to pick up your items, and once they do, you assume full responsibility for the care and return of the item. For those who plan to return their books to Phillips Library by U.S. mail, it is highly recommended that you place tracking information on your package as to avoid financial responsibility for the item being lost in-transit.

What is the library's return address?

Please use the following return address: Aurora University Phillips Library 347 S. Gladstone Ave. Aurora, Illinois 60506-4892

What happens if I lose or damage a Tipasa book?

You, the borrower, are financially responsible for any damage to or loss of interlibrary loan materials, from the time you pick them up, until you return them to Phillips Library. This also applies for proxies who picked up materials on your behalf. Once you receive notification that you have been billed for the item, you are no longer eligible to return it and must pay the fee.

I got an email saying my Tipasa book has been recalled, what does this mean?

This means that the lending library needs the book back for the possible reasons:

  • The book is needed for a course reserve

  • Another patron is in need of this book.

  • The book is needed back for technical services

Regardless, you are required to return the book back to Phillips Library by the requested date made by the lending library. Failure to return the book will result in you being charged a fee.

Why is my account blocked?

A patron's account is blocked due to the following:

  • One or more overdue books.

  • Outstanding fines from a library.

  • A recalled item not returned.

The reasoning for your account being blocked, will be sent to your AU email. Any questions can be sent to docdel@aurora.edu

What are the copyright restrictions on interlibrary loan?

The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction.

One of these specific conditions is that photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purposes other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use." that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if , in its judgement, fulfillment of the order would violate copyright law.
