OpenAthens

Introducing the library's new authentication system

Option #1 - Spartan Search Permalinks

Since they do not include the EZproxy prefix, Spartan Search permalinks (beginning https://i-share-aru.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/) will not be altered by the OpenAthens update.

So, one good option is to save and share permalinks from Spartan Search, which will work normally before and after May 3rd. In most cases, you can locate an article or other item in Spartan Search by searching the full title, adding the author name, if needed.

Spartan Search results for "On Synaptic Circuits, Memory, and Kumquats."

Next, select the link icon to the right of the title to view and copy the permalink, which will lead to the entry for this item. Links to the full text will be available within the entry page for use both before and after May 3rd.

Option #2 - OpenAthens Link Generator

Note: the Link Generator will not work for links to EBSCO and ProQuest databases, journals, or articles.

For ProQuest articles, the current permalink should continue to work as long as you first remove the the old EZproxy prefix (https://library.aurora.edu/login?url=) after May 3rd, 2021.

For EBSCO articles, permalinks will be recreated within EBSCO starting May 3rd, so please wait to update permalinks until after that date or instead provide a Spartan Search permalink, as described above under option #1. After May 3rd, the permalink provided at the article's page will be formatted correctly.

For other resources, you can "Athenize" a saved library resource URL or permalink using the OpenAthens Link Generator:

First, remove the EZproxy prefix (https://library.aurora.edu/login?url=) from the link(s). Then, paste the link(s) into the provided box. The generator will provide a new "Athenized" link to save or share.
